Base simplicity (FM 2008 8.01)

Wed, 13 Feb 2008 02:35:08

If better than 50% of teams in league;

Home vs Weak bottom of league #1_4-4-2_High_Pressure.tac
Notes: Switch to this tactic during a game if you notice the opposition playing ultra-defensive with high time wasting.

Default Home #2_4-4-2_Play_Ball.tac
Notes: Start out with short farrows on wingers (crossing from mixed), but tweak it to the long farrow (crossing from byline) if need be. Use this tactic if you are strong favorites in one of the cup finals.

Default Away #5_4-4-2_Counter_Defense.tac
Notes:

Else;

Default Home #2_4-3-3_Play_Ball.tac
Notes: If you are relegation candidate or generally a weaker side > move the winger/forwards back so you create a 4-1-4-1 tactic. Tweak it so you either have short farrows or long farrows on wingers (short farrows = wingers cross from mixed and long farrows = wingers cross from byline).

Default Away #5_4-1-4-1_Counter_Defense.tac
Notes: If you are relegation candidate or generally a weaker side > move the winger/forwards back so you create a 4-1-4-1 tactic. Tweak it so you either have short farrows or long farrows on wingers (short farrows = wingers cross from mixed and long farrows = wingers cross from byline).

These are base rules when implementing tactics, but the bigger your reputation, and the better the team, the more attacking you start to play. Position specific instructions are set to team, tweak as you see appropriate.

FM2008 Tactic

I read this tactical advice last night and found it very useful. Colly appears experienced and offers no silver bullet, and if you play FM08 for long enough you'll no there is no single tactic that works for all. Instead of downloading a tactic and not understanding why or how it should work we are advised how to make our tactical decisions. Original post is here http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1519717/m/7852044853 You can read Colly's comments on ryanpartington.com by clicking 'view page' below.
